Dear Derrell (from Stacy’s dad)

Dear Derrell;

I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen the film American Beauty, probably not something that you kids are watching these days, but I think you’d find it interesting. Not simply because it’s the story of a middle-aged man who is bored and looking for something different in his life, but the irony that it stars Kevin Spacey who was recently forced to admit he’s gay in “real life.”

“Real life” is sometimes confusing, especially at your age. I just wanted to reach out and say that although Stacy might not “be the girl for you” (as the song says) that if you ever need someone to talk to I’m always willing to listen.

Also, I’ve set up a makeshift gym in my garage so if you ever want to stop by and get in a workout, I’m game. Starting to see my abs for the first time in years. The secret is a diet rich in fiber, protein, and healthy fats
