hello
(originally posted 3/7/2020)
While you would be hard-pressed to find a writer more appreciative of his regular readers I’m hoping that you’re not one of them.
I’m hoping you’ve never heard of me and came upon this website quite by accident.
Rest assured I will not do anything to try to convince you to return and trying to peddle any of my many free books is the last thing on my mind.
What I write here on an inconsistent basis is of little consequence and usually is just the same ramblings that you’d find pouring out of the mouth of your most boring neighbor or drunken friend.
You never have to darken my doorstep again and I will consider this a win if you do but one simple thing for me… stop and look around. Spend a few seconds thinking about all the things that led you here. How absurd this series of events really were. Look at words that you’re reading and appreciate what it took for them to be sitting before you. Acknowledge that you and Lance Manion, the most incomplete of strangers, have interacted. We had this moment right now and nothing will ever take that away from either of us.
I don’t even ask that you remember it.
It’s enough that it happened. For one brief moment we intersected. Our paths crossed.
Now go live your life and I will live mine. Be everything you want be or not and experience everything or nothing.
And I’ll sit here and churn out weird crap like “the most incomplete of strangers” on an inconsistent basis.
Now click out of this and don’t give it another thought.
“Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing,
Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness;
So on the ocean of life, we pass and speak one another,
Only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence.”
― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Tales of a Wayside Inn
