Summer Playlist 2024
I’ve started to add these playlists more regularly, not so much to reveal what I’m listening to as I write (or don’t write) but as an emotional scrapbook of sorts. Raw unfiltered selfishness with a dash of egomania. In the spring I was very happy with what I was writing but experiencing a certain amount of inner turmoil. These last few months I haven’t been writing much at all, but I’ve been happy. So in the end I’d rather be happy than ‘productive’ in a hobby that I’m not particularly good at anyway.
I hope some of these songs make you happy as well.
Joy Oladokun – Questions Chaos, and Faith
Nothing is certain
Everything changes
We’re spirit and bone marching to the grave
There are no answers
There are only questions, chaos, and faith
And everybody knows
That the world is full of stupid people
But it’s not real
And you don’t exist
And I can’t recall the last time I was kissed
I know you gotta do it your own way
If you’re ever gonna get through it
Have you made your mind up yet?
All the toys and the tools in the box
Couldn’t get you off
And I can’t wait not to go home
So far away from everything I know
Is it okay for me to feel close
To a place that I barely know?
This song has started now
And you’re just finding out
Now isn’t that a laugh?
The Gaslight Anthem – The ’59 Sound
When we float out into the ether, into the Everlasting Arms,
I hope we don’t hear Marley’s chains we forged in life.
Medium Build – Cutting Thru The Country
Waitin’ for forever, waitin’ for your call
I know it sounds crazy, we could have it all
She’s got a smile that you love so much
You almost hate it
like it, share it!
